Thanks For Going From Here to There

Have you ever stopped to think about how the bed you slept on last night, or the chair you’re sitting in right now or that picture frame that holds so many memories made it to your house? Most of those items were likely not built in your hometown; but rather were shipped to you from all over the country or even the world.

At one time or another, a lot of these goods touch a FedEx vehicle. While FedEx Freight moves those things you buy from a brick-and-mortar store, FedEx Ground and FedEx Express carry items you purchased online as well as other important documents and packages you need. Our vehicles also move commercial shipments that bring life-saving instruments to hospitals, raw materials to factories and parts for engines. Other FedEx companies take care of special-need shipments, and often help to bring in items from overseas. In times of disaster, FedEx trucks carry life-saving supplies to areas hardest hit by disaster.

In all, more than 120,000 drivers wear the FedEx uniform and work hard every day to deliver your important shipments to you safely and on time. Last week, September 16-22 is National Truck Driver Appreciation week, and we want to say thanks to all of our drivers. We appreciate the effort they make and the time they sacrifice away from their families so customers can have the products they need when they want them.

We also appreciate the safety that each of our drivers exhibit. FedEx drivers cover hundreds of thousands of miles of roadways each day, and do so with one of the best safety records in the industry. Safety is of such important to us that earlier this year we sent 138 drivers to the National Truck Driving Championships in Minneapolis. Several FedEx drivers and contractors finished at the top of their categories, Don Logan, a driver for FedEx Freight was named the 2012 National Grand Champion honor for achieving the highest score among the winners of all nine classes.

If you see Don or any other of our drivers while you are out and about this week, take a moment to say thanks, and let them know how much you appreciate what they do to keep America moving safely.
