The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership Center has named FedEx a finalist for a Citizens Award in the 2012 Best International Ambassador category. Founded in 2000, the Citizens Awards are one of the most coveted recognitions in corporate citizenship. They highlight the evolution of corporate citizenship and its movement from the fringe of business activity to strategic alignment with core competencies.

I just returned from the 2012 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO Summit in Vladivostok, Russia, where leaders made steady advances to boost global free trade. A former Soviet era outpost, Vladivostok was once off-limits to foreigners as well as Soviet citizens. Russia made an impressive showing for the visiting APEC business and government leaders, spending billions of dollars on stunning new bridges and an entirely new university campus, where the APEC meetings were held.

Hello race fans! It’s that time of year again, when all the hard work put in by our FedEx team throughout the season will hopefully pay off in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship. I’m excited for this year’s Chase because I think our team has a great shot at winning it all. Darian Grubb, my crew chief, has put together a championship-caliber team and we have all the pieces in place to make a run for the big prize.
